[MyDaily — Reporter Kim Jin-seong] “Skubal expected to be dealt.”
On May 28 (KST), The Athletic released a ranking of teams that could pursue a trade for Tarik Skubal (30) of the Detroit Tigers. Topping the list was the Los Angeles Dodgers. With Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow sidelined by injury, the Dodgers are in search of a frontline starter to pair with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

L.A. has regularly added starters through free agency and trades, but it didn’t make a major starting-pitching splash last offseason. U.S. outlets have consistently raised the possibility of a Skubal trade — he’s set to reach free agency after this season.
Detroit’s recent slump has all but extinguished its postseason momentum. There are still more than 100 games left in the season, but teams that fall this far behind rarely pull off a comeback. MLB.com reported on the 28th that most major-league executives expect Detroit to sell Skubal and prioritize the future.
Several clubs have been mentioned as potential trade partners, but the Dodgers remain the frontrunner. The Athletic put the Dodgers at No. 1 and listed the Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays at No. 2 through No. 7.
The Athletic added, “Imagine an October rotation of Skubal, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Snell and Glasnow. They could remove Justin Bruihl or Emmet Sheehan from the major-league roster and could easily trade one of their top prospects such as Zayr Hoff, Jose De Paula or Eduardo Quintero.”
If Skubal does end up in Los Angeles, analysts expect the Dodgers to offer him a substantial contract extension. Even if he reaches free agency, the club would likely move quickly to re-sign him — a deal is expected to eclipse Yamamoto’s 325 million USD (approximately 433.33 billion KRW).

The biggest remaining question is Skubal’s health. He recently had loose bodies removed from his elbow using the less-invasive “nanoscope” technique rather than traditional arthroscopy. He has already resumed throwing and is expected to begin a minor-league rehab start in June. If he returns to form, his trade clock will likely start ticking quickly.
