[MyDaily = Changwon, Reporter Lee Jung-won] CHANGWON — A 145-meter (476-foot) blast left the crowd stunned.
Hanwha Eagles slugger Kang Baek-ho started as the No. 4 designated hitter in Hanwha’s fifth game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League season against the NC Dinos on May 28 at Changwon NC Park.
Down 0-1 in the top of the second, Kang came to the plate as the leadoff batter. On a 1-0 count against NC starter Kim Tae-kyung, he hammered a 139 km/h (86 mph) fastball over the right-center fence for a towering, out-of-the-park homer estimated at 145 meters (476 feet). It was his 11th of the season and his first since the two-homer performance vs. the KT Wiz on May 16, cutting the gap to league leader Kim Do-young of the KIA Tigers to three homers.
Through 46 games before this matchup, Kang had compiled 60 hits, 10 homers, 49 RBIs, 31 runs and a .324 batting average in what has been a strong debut season with Hanwha. He’s on a pace for roughly 180 hits, 30 homers and 147 RBIs — impressive production so far.
NC answered quickly. In the bottom of the second, Park Si-won tied things with a solo homer — his first of the season and his first long ball in 386 days since May 7, 2025, against Suwon KT.

Hanwha evened the score at 2-2 in the top of the third when leadoff hitter Kim Tae-yeon homered. It was Kim’s third long ball of the season.
