[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] Son Heung-min (LA FC), who took seven shots but failed to score, was given a 6.9 rating.
LA FC defeated the Seattle Sounders 1-0 on May 25 (Korean time) in their 2026 MLS Round 15 home match at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
The match was decided in dramatic fashion when Timothy Tillman netted the winner in the 40th minute of the second half, snapping LA FC’s three-game losing streak.
Son started up front and played the full 90 minutes, but he didn’t record a goal or an assist.
He registered seven shots on the night, including an attempt inside the box just two minutes after kickoff — his highest single-game shot total this season.
Most notably, in the 31st minute of the second half he unleashed a right-footed strike from the top of the arc that nicked a defender’s toe and was saved by the goalkeeper.
Soccer statistics site Footmob gave Son a 6.9 rating.
This season Son has 2 goals and 16 assists in official competitions — both goals and seven of those assists have come in the Champions Cup, while he has nine assists in MLS. With the World Cup approaching, his recent lack of goals is a growing concern.
After the Seattle match, Son is scheduled to join Hong Myung-bo’s squad, which is holding a pre-tournament camp in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Meanwhile, Seattle defender Kim Ki-hee started and logged roughly 62 minutes before being substituted in the 62nd minute of the match.
Footmob awarded Kim a 6.5 rating.
