[SPOTV News=Reporter Shin Won-chul] Dr. Rob Gray, an ecological-coaching expert who has consulted with the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, is set to visit South Korea. He will brief Korean baseball coaches on how MLB training methods are evolving, drawing on his work with those two clubs.
Gray, a professor at Arizona State University, is the author of books translated into Korean, including How Humans Learn Movement, How Optimal Movement Is Built, and Coaching Dynamics. He has promoted ecological-approach training across disciplines and worked as a skill-acquisition specialist for both the Red Sox and the Cubs.
CoachRound, which invited Gray, says that 21st-century baseball coaching has been driven by tracking data and biomechanics-based analysis. Recently, motor learning has emerged as a new focus, and the ecological approach is gaining traction in baseball coaching. Gray — both a researcher and a practitioner — will present case studies showing how ecological coaching has changed hitting drills, organized defensive training, and shaped methods to improve pitching mechanics. CoachRound added the seminar will illustrate how training has evolved at the Red Sox and Cubs during Gray’s consultancy.
Gray’s seminar will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 27th at SSL Korea. For more details, visit the CoachRound website.
