[SPOTV News — Reporter Park Dae-sung] Rasmus Hojlund, 23, is set to leave Manchester United.
European transfer-market specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on the 17th (Korean time) that Hojlund will complete a permanent move from Manchester United to Napoli for €44 million (about $47.08 million; approximately 76 billion KRW), and added his signature “HERE WE GO” to signal the deal is done.
Hojlund moved from Italian Serie A club Atalanta to Manchester United in 2023. United signed him for €79.8 million (about $85.49 million; approximately 139.1 billion KRW) at the time.
He arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations but struggled with his finishing. Across 95 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, he scored 26 goals and provided 6 assists. In 2025, he returned to Serie A on loan at Napoli and established himself as the club’s leading striker.
He played a major role in Napoli’s league title last season and this campaign delivered 15 goals and 8 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. Napoli believed Hojlund could be a regular starter and paid €44 million (about $47.08 million; approximately 76 billion KRW) to complete the permanent transfer from Manchester United.
Romano added that the €44 million (about $47.08 million; approximately 65 billion KRW) buyout clause was triggered once Napoli secured Champions League qualification, and that Hojlund is now fully a Napoli player.
The total sum heading back to Manchester United could rise. Romano said United will receive a package worth €50 million (about $53.50 million) in total — the initial €6 million (about $6.42 million) loan fee plus the €44 million (about $47.08 million) transfer fee — which amounts to roughly 87.1 billion KRW.
United will also save the wages they had been paying Hojlund. Romano said, “Hojlund delivered an excellent first season in Italy. Napoli see him as a core player for the future. This is a very important signing for the club.”
