Late-game push decided the outcome. A strong outing from the starter kept the game close, and a late offensive surge put it away for good.
The Samsung Lions beat the LG Twins 9-1 on the 12th at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. Starter Choi Won-tae set the tone with six scoreless innings, and Jeon Byeong-woo’s grand slam propelled Samsung to an eight-game winning streak. The Lions moved up to second place, dropping LG to third.

Samsung’s eight-game streak is the club’s first in nearly 12 years. The last stretch came from May 13, 2014, against the Hanwha Eagles in Daegu through May 22 against the Lotte Giants in Pohang. That run later reached 11 straight with three more home wins over Nexen (now Kiwoom) from May 23–25.
Choi was dominant. He mixed power and control over six innings, allowing four hits, issuing three walks and striking out four while keeping a clean slate. His arsenal featured a fastball topping 150 km/h, a cutter in the low 140s, a slider in the high 120s and well-timed curveballs and changeups.

Opposing starter Lim Chan-kyu also held his own, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing six hits and one run. His command and game management frustrated Samsung’s lineup. In the first inning, Gu Ja-wook doubled and Lewin Diaz followed with an RBI single for an early 1-0 lead, but Samsung couldn’t add runs for several innings.
LG answered in the bottom of the seventh when reliever Miyaji Yura gave up an RBI single to Park Hae-min, tying the game at 1-1. Samsung broke the tie in the top of the eighth. After walks to Kim Seong-yun and Diaz and an infield hit by Park Seung-gyu loaded the bases with two outs, Jeon crushed a grand slam over the left-field wall to make it 5-1.

The offense kept rolling. Lee Jae-hyun, back from injury, launched a solo shot to left in the ninth. Later in the frame, with no outs and runners on first and second after Park Se-hyuk’s single and a walk to Kim Seong-yun, Gu Ja-wook and Choi Hyung-woo delivered RBI singles. Jeon added a sacrifice fly to push the final margin to 9-1 and seal the win.
