The Samsung Lions extended their winning streak to six games as veteran slugger Choi Hyung-woo reached another milestone. On the day he became the first player in KBO history to record 550 career doubles, Samsung picked up a dramatic road victory to move into sole possession of third place.
Samsung defeated the NC Dinos 5-4 at Changwon NC Park on the 9th in a 2026 KBO League game. The win pushed their streak to six straight and gave them momentum in the standings.
The night belonged to Choi. Batting third as the designated hitter, he ripped a double into left-center in the fourth and followed with a double to right in the sixth, his 550th career double — a KBO first. He also increased his career hit total to 2,630 and stands one double shy of 4,500 career total bases.
The game was a tight contest. Samsung grabbed an early lead, but NC answered in the sixth when Han Seok-hyun hit a sacrifice fly and Lee Woo-sung added an RBI single to knot it at 2-2. The decisive swing came in the eighth. With one out and runners on first and second, NC first baseman Seo Ho-cheol mishandled Koo Ja-wook’s grounder, allowing Choi to score the go-ahead run. Jeon Byung-woo then ripped a two-RBI double to make it 5-2.
NC fought back in the bottom of the eighth when Lee Woo-sung drilled a two-run double to cut the deficit to one, but Samsung closer Kim Jae-yun struck out the side in the ninth to secure the win.
Elsewhere, KIA beat Lotte 3-1 in Busan, extending their edge in the series to four straight. Kim Ho-ryeong’s 135-meter game-tying home run and Aderlin Rodríguez’s go-ahead RBI in the eighth proved decisive.
Doosan routed SSG 9-4 at Jamsil. Yun Jun-ho hit his first career home run and finished with one hit, two RBIs and two walks, reaching base three times, while Jung Soo-bin added three RBIs to fuel the win.
Hanwha also dominated LG, 11-3, pounding out 14 hits, including two homers. Peraza’s 135-meter two-run shot tied the game, and Moon Hyun-bin’s three-run homer helped erase the sting of the previous day’s 5-hour, 5-minute extra-inning loss.
At Gocheok, Kiwoom and kt played to a 6-6 tie after 11 innings. Kiwoom’s Choi Joo-hwan put on a one-man show with back-to-back homers and six RBIs, but his heroics didn’t produce a victory.
