[MyDaily = Gwangju, reporter Kim Jin-sung] KT Wiz treated fans to a very special and meaningful \”Away Wizard\” event.
KT has been running the \”Away Wizard\” program at its road games this season. On April 25 in Incheon against the SSG Landers, the club kicked off the initiative with the \”Jang Sung-woo Treats\” event. The second installment, \”Kim Hyun-soo Treats,\” took place during the May 2–3 series in Gwangju against the KIA Tigers.

The club recruits hardcore KT supporters to travel to away games and charters buses for them. Players hand out snacks, and the team supplies local favorites and other light bites. Participants pay a small fee, but club officials say demand is so strong the spots are allocated by lottery.
At the Gwangju events on the 2nd and 3rd, 590 fans joined the group cheering on the first day, and 90 fans took part on the second day. According to the club, they provided round-trip buses, commemorative participation medals, and Gwangju’s signature local dishes. Although KT dropped the game on the 2nd, they won on the 3rd and rewarded fans with \”Winning Reward\” photo cards.
Through the club, Kim Hyun-soo said, \”Fans came all the way to Gwangju during the holiday and cheered for us two days in a row. Their enthusiastic support gave us a huge lift. Every player, myself included, really wanted to win. I’m glad we were able to secure the series. I hope the fans enjoyed the snack truck and the entertaining games. I sincerely thank everyone who took the time during the holiday to come out.\”
Events like this are excellent for KT. They strengthen the bond with fans and help build an away-game fanbase. KT is now in its 11th year. Industry sources say the club has gained a much larger, more loyal following compared to its early seasons. The team owes a lot to its fans’ support, and the club’s efforts deserve applause.

Manager Lee Kang-cheol said, \”Starter Sauer gave up three early runs but then settled in and helped lay the groundwork for the win. The bullpen that followed did their jobs as well. On offense, Lee Kang-min and Kim Min-hyuk produced back-to-back hits to create a chance, and Kim Hyun-soo’s two-run RBI to tie the game swung the momentum. Hilliard then delivered a three-run go-ahead homer to put the game out of reach. The players worked hard all week, and I sincerely thank the fans who traveled from as far as Suwon to support us during the holiday.\”
