Elliot Anderson: Will Manchester City Break Transfer Records to Secure This Rising Star?

[MyDaily = Reporter No Chan-hyeok] Manchester City have moved a significant step closer to signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
Transfer specialist Nicolo Schira reported on the 3rd (KST) that Anderson is close to joining City, and that the club is preparing a sizable offer to Nottingham Forest, increasing the likelihood of a deal.
Rebuilding the midfield is a priority for City this summer. With Bernardo Silva’s exit confirmed and Rodri’s future uncertain, Anderson has emerged as their top target.
An academy graduate of Newcastle United, Anderson made his senior debut in 2021. After a loan spell at Bristol Rovers to gain experience, his crisp ball control, threatening shooting, and relentless work rate earned him a starting role at Newcastle.
Anderson has truly come into his own since moving to Nottingham Forest. Last season he featured in 42 competitive matches, scoring two goals and providing six assists, helping Forest finish seventh and secure a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He has also earned an England call-up and is on track for inclusion in the squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America. This season he has remained an indispensable presence in Forest’s midfield.
His form has attracted interest from top clubs, with Manchester United among the most active suitors. After parting ways with Casemiro, United reportedly even considered selling Manuel Ugarte as part of a midfield overhaul.
But Anderson now appears destined for Manchester City. Schira described him as one of City’s primary targets this summer.
City are reportedly preparing an eye-watering bid. Nottingham Forest have indicated they will demand a new Premier League record fee — £116 million (about 232.5 billion KRW, approximately $174.4 million).
