British outlet TeamTalk reported on May 1 that Everton’s interest in a Richarlison return remains strong. The outlet said the situation at Tottenham has become an increasingly important factor in talks over the forward’s next move. Since his 2022 switch from Everton to Tottenham, rumors about a potential return have persisted.
TeamTalk added that Richarlison is still viewed as a player who fits David Moyes’ system, and that Moyes values his versatility and goal threat. Everton are aware of Richarlison’s contract situation; with roughly 12 months left on his deal, Tottenham may soon need to make a significant decision on his future. Sources express concern that keeping him would be difficult if Tottenham are relegated.
The report also noted that relegation would likely force Tottenham to rebuild their squad and consider offloading high-wage players. While a move back to Everton would be a dream scenario for supporters, TeamTalk said that if several factors line up, Richarlison could wear the Everton shirt again.
Everton have also been linked with other forward targets. TeamTalk reported on April 30 that Everton have entered the race for Japanese striker Ayase. Moyes typically prefers players with Premier League experience, but given the challenge of signing established top-level forwards, he may look abroad. Ayase has scored 25 goals this season in the Dutch Eredivisie and appears poised to challenge for the league’s top-scorer award.
Tottenham sit 18th in the Premier League this season with a record of 8 wins, 10 draws and 16 losses (34 points). With four league games remaining, they trail 17th-place West Ham by two points (36) and face a genuine relegation threat.
