[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Suwon KT closed the regular season on a high note, edging Goyang Sono 76-72 in the finale.
On April 8 at Suwon KT Sonic Boom Arena, KT defeated Goyang Sono 76-72 in the last game of the 2025–2026 LG Electronics Pro Basketball regular season.
The victory left KT at 27-27, good for seventh place. Goyang Sono, which had already secured a playoff spot, finished the regular season at 28-26.
Derrick Williams and Han Hee-won led KT with 17 points apiece. Lee Du-won contributed 10 points and nine rebounds, while Kim Sun-hyung added 12.
For Goyang Sono, Kevin Kembaw and Nathan Knight each scored 18 points, but the pair couldn’t lift their team to a win.
The first quarter was tight. Sono opened with scoring from Kembaw both inside and out and a dunk by Knight, but KT countered with Jung Chang-young’s outside shooting.
Sono looked poised to pull away on three-pointers from Jung Chang-young and Williams, but Motskabivicius’s scoring and an outside shot from Lee Geun-jun left Sono up just 21-20 after the first quarter.
KT bumped up the intensity in the second. Sono relied on perimeter work from Im Dong-seop and Kembaw, while KT answered as Han Hee-won hit back-to-back 3s.
In a tense stretch, Williams’s scoring and Kim Sun-hyung’s baskets inside and out swung momentum to KT, and the home side took a 40-37 lead into halftime.
The third quarter remained competitive. Sono surged early on Knight’s scoring — including a dunk — and a Kembaw 3, but KT reclaimed control with an outside shot from Williams and consecutive buckets by Lee Du-won.
Han Hee-won continued to produce from all levels as KT carried a 56-51 advantage into the fourth quarter.
KT held on down the stretch. Sono rallied with scores from Knight, Lee Jae-do, Kang Ji-hoon and Kembaw, pulling within striking distance, but Han’s 3-pointer preserved KT’s cushion.
Williams then hit a key jumper to blunt Sono’s late push, and KT sealed the victory by stopping Sono’s final possession.
