[Sports Today reporter Shin Seo-young] The LG Twins beat the Kiwoom Heroes to secure a winning series.

LG walked off with a 6-5 road victory over Kiwoom on April 5 at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League.

The win was LG’s second straight, moving the club to 4-4 and into a tie for fifth with the Hanwha Eagles.

Kiwoom dropped its second straight, falling to 2-6 and tied for eighth with the KIA Tigers and Lotte Giants.

Starter Tolhurst picked up his first win of the season (1-1), working six innings while allowing two hits (one homer), issuing three walks, striking out seven and yielding one run.

The LG lineup totaled 15 hits (including one homer) and every starter recorded at least one hit. Mun Bo-kyung was a spark, going 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBIs and a run.

Kiwoom’s starter Wiles took the loss after five innings, surrendering eight hits, walking three, fanning five and allowing four runs.

LG struck first. In the top of the first, leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki opened with a single. After Moon Sung-ju struck out, Austin followed with a left-field single to put runners at first and second with one out.

Mun Bo-kyung delivered an RBI single to bring home Hong Chang-ki and give LG a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, with one out and runners at the corners, Park Dong-won hit a sacrifice fly to left, and LG led 2-0.

Kiwoom answered in the bottom of the second. With one out and no one on, Kim Keon Hee connected on Tolhurst’s second pitch — a 135 km forkball — and launched a solo shot over the left-field wall.

LG pushed the lead again in the fourth. Leadoff batter Chun Seong-ho battled Wiles in an 11-pitch duel and blooped a base hit to center. Park Hae-min followed with an RBI double to right, and then Oh Ji-hwan turned on Wiles’ first pitch for a two-run single to make it 4-1.

In the top of the ninth, LG extended the margin. Mun Bo-kyung opened the frame with a solo homer, Park Dong-won added a single and Oh Ji-hwan followed with a double, pushing the lead to three and seeming to seal the game.

Kiwoom, though, staged a furious rally. In the bottom of the ninth, Kim Keon Hee, Park Joo-hong and Lim Ji-yeol each singled off reliever Ham Deok-joo to load the bases with no outs.

Pinch-hitter Lee Hyung-jong battled to a full count and then crushed the eighth pitch — a 141 km fastball — over the right-field wall for a game-tying grand slam, cutting the deficit to 6-5.

LG turned to Yoo Young-chan on the mound, but he issued consecutive walks to Brooks and Lee Ju-hyung, creating a no-outs, bases-loaded threat. Yoo then coaxed a double play from Ahn Chi-hong and struck out Choi Joo-hwan to end the game and preserve a 6-5 win for LG.

Meanwhile, the SSG Landers beat the Lotte Giants 4-3 as Go Myung-jun delivered the go-ahead hit in the top of the ninth with one out and runners at first and third.

SSG completed a weekend sweep and stretched its winning streak to four games, moving into sole possession of first place at 7-1.

Lotte, meanwhile, dropped to the bottom of the standings after its sixth straight loss.

SSG starter Veniziano worked five innings, allowing eight hits (one homer), issuing two walks, striking out four and giving up three runs; he left without a decision. Reliever Kim Min earned the win with a scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit.

Lotte starter Park Se-woong went five innings, giving up six hits, walking five, striking out three and allowing three runs. Choi Jun-yong was charged with the loss after surrendering one hit, issuing two walks, striking out one and allowing one run in an inning of work.

The KIA Tigers defeated the NC Dinos 3-0, snapping a four-game skid.

NC saw its five-game winning streak end and slipped to 6-2, tied with the KT Wiz for second place.

KIA starter Oller tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out five to pick up his second win of the season (undefeated).

NC starter Toda absorbed the loss after six innings, giving up six hits, walking one, striking out two and allowing two runs.

The Doosan Bears routed the Hanwha Eagles 8-0, keyed by Park Jun-soon’s three-run homer.

Doosan snapped a four-game slide and improved to 2-1-5, sitting in seventh place.

Hanwha, which failed to extend its three-game streak, sits tied with LG for fifth.

Doosan’s starter Zack Log tossed six shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking two and striking out six to earn his first win of the season.

Hanwha starter Hwang Joon-seo took the loss after 4.1 innings, giving up three hits, issuing two walks, fanning seven and allowing two runs.

The KT Wiz edged the Samsung Lions 2-0.

The win lifted KT into a tie for second with NC, while Samsung remained fourth at 4-1-3.

KT starter Boshilie recorded his second win of the season with six scoreless innings, giving up five hits, issuing two walks and striking out two.

Samsung starter Orclain took the loss after six innings, allowing five hits, two walks, striking out five and surrendering two runs.
