[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu sports@stoo.com] The NC Dinos beat the KIA Tigers to extend their winning streak to five games and remain in first place.
NC blanked KIA 6-0 on April 4 at Changwon NC Park in the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League.
With the victory, NC improved to 6-1 and stayed atop the standings. KIA dropped to 1-6 and fell to the bottom of the table after losing four straight.
NC starter Curtis Taylor tossed five scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out four and walking five, earning his first win of the season.
At the plate, Matt Davidson recorded a multi-hit game that included a home run, and Park Min-woo reached base four times to lead the offense.
KIA starter Lee Eui-ri struggled, lasting just 2.2 innings. He allowed four hits (two homers), struck out five, issued six walks and was charged with three runs, taking his second loss of the year.
NC took control early. In the top of the first, leadoff hitter Kim Joo-won crushed Lee’s fifth pitch—a 136 km/h changeup—over the left-field wall for a solo homer.
Later in the inning, Park Min-woo doubled and Davidson followed with a hit to create a 2-out, runners-on-first-and-third situation. Davidson tried to steal, and a throwing error by the catcher allowed Park to score from third.
NC struck again in the top of the second. Leadoff batter Shin Jae-in hammered Lee’s first pitch, a 134 km/h slider, over the left-field fence for another solo shot, pushing the lead to 3-0.
KIA failed to cash in on opportunities. In the bottom of the first, Ko Jong-wook drew a walk but Castro hit into a double play. Kim Do-young and Na Sung-bum also walked, but Kim Sun-bin grounded out to third to end the threat.
In the bottom of the second, KIA again left runners stranded. After two outs, Park Sang-joon’s infield hit and Kim Ho-ryeong’s single put runners at first and third, but Ko Jong-wook grounded to second and the inning ended without a run.
NC pushed the lead further in the fourth. After Park Min-woo’s single and a steal of second, Park Geon-woo delivered an RBI single with one out to make it 4-0.
KIA stayed quiet in the fifth. Kim Ho-ryeong’s hit and Ko Jong-wook’s walk put runners at first and second with one out, but Castro popped out to center and Kim Do-young struck out, leaving the bases loaded and the team scoreless.
NC added a big blow in the sixth. With one out and the bases empty, Davidson launched a solo homer over the left-field wall to extend the lead to 6-0.
NC’s bullpen then closed the door. The Dinos brought Mok Ji-hoon out to pitch in the bottom of the ninth, and he retired the side in order to seal the shutout.
