[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] The Kiwoom Heroes beat the LG Twins behind a balanced performance from both their pitching staff and lineup.
Kiwoom defeated LG 13-10 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League exhibition game at Seoul’s Jamsil Baseball Stadium on the 23rd.
Kiwoom is now 4 wins, 1 tie and 6 losses in exhibition play. LG moved to 5 wins, 2 ties and 4 losses.
Starter Ha Young-min picked up the win, tossing five innings while allowing three hits, striking out two, issuing no walks and surrendering two runs.
At the plate, Lee Ju-hyung, Ahn Chi-hong and Kim Keon Hee each collected three hits to lead the offense.
LG starter Lachlan Wells took the loss, lasting 4.1 innings and yielding six hits, striking out four, issuing no walks and allowing three runs.
Kiwoom struck first. In the top of the third, leadoff hitter Kim Keon Hee reached on an infield single, but Park Han-gyeol followed with a ground-ball double play toward first and the early scoring chance looked lost. Lee Ju-hyung then singled up the middle and stole second to put a runner in scoring position, and Ahn Chi-hong delivered an RBI single to open the scoring.
LG remained scoreless through three innings as Ha kept them off the board.
The Twins answered once their lineup turned over. In the bottom of the fourth, Park Hae-min doubled and Moon Seong-ju moved him over, and with two outs Austin tied the game with an RBI single to center.
With two outs and a runner on first, Park Dong-won followed with a single to the right side. Austin rounded the bases and scored to give LG a 2-1 lead.
Kiwoom regained control in the fifth. With one out and runners on first and second after Kim Keon Hee and Park Han-gyeol reached, Lee Ju-hyung lined a 140 km/h fastball from reliever Ham Deok-ju for an RBI single.
After Ahn Chi-hong popped out to the catcher, Brooks delivered an RBI double that put Kiwoom back ahead, 3-2.
The big blow came in the seventh. Lee Ju-hyung’s hit and walks to Ahn Chi-hong and Brooks loaded the bases with no outs. Choi Joo-hwan’s batted ball deflected off Kim Jin-seong, allowing the runners on second and third to score.
With no outs and runners at the corners, Park Joo-hong hit a grounder to short and Choi was thrown out at second. Eo Jun-seo then drew a walk and Lee Hyung-jong was hit by a pitch for another run. With two outs and the bases still loaded, Park Han-gyeol delivered a two-run single, and after Lee Ju-hyung drew a walk, Ahn Chi-hong ripped a two-run double. Kiwoom erupted for eight runs in the seventh, racing ahead 11-2.
LG responded in the bottom of the seventh with its own rally. Park Dong-won singled and walks to Koo Bon-hyeok and Lee Jae-won loaded the bases with one out. Chun Seong-ho and Choi Won-young followed with RBI singles to left, Lee Young-bin drew a bases-loaded walk, Song Chan-ui hit a grand slam, and Kang Min-gyun launched a solo homer. The Twins scored eight runs in the inning to cut the deficit to 11-10.
Kiwoom answered again. In the top of the eighth, with two outs Eo Jun-seo drew a walk and Kim Keon Hee drove in a run with a double. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and no outs, Choi Joo-hwan hit a grounder to second that allowed Lee Ju-hyung to score, and Kiwoom held a 13-10 lead.
Kiwoom called on Cho Young-geon to close the game in the bottom of the ninth. After putting two runners on, he worked out of the jam and finished without allowing another run.
