[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] The Doosan Bears routed the KT Wiz.
Doosan beat KT 12-7 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League exhibition at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 23rd.
With the victory, Doosan improved to 7 wins, 1 tie and 3 losses, holding second place in the exhibition standings. KT, which failed to extend a four-game winning streak, dropped to 4 wins, 2 ties and 5 losses.
Doosan starter Kwak Bin was dominant, working four innings while allowing three hits, striking out nine, issuing no walks and surrendering no runs to pick up the win.
Offensively, Lee Yoo-chan had a multi-hit game and drove in five runs, and Kang Seung-ho chipped in with three hits of his own.
KT starter Moon Yong-ik took the loss after one inning, giving up two hits and two runs while striking out one and walking two.
Doosan’s offense came alive immediately. In the first inning, Kim Min-seok drew a walk and Kang Seung-ho followed with a double to put runners on second and third with one out; Yang Eui-ji then delivered a two-run double to give Doosan the lead.
In the second, Park Ji-hoon and Jo Soo-haeng reached with hits to start the frame, and reliever Son Dong-hyun’s wild pitch advanced the runners. Lee Yoo-chan then smashed a two-run double.
With no outs and a runner on first, Kim Min-seok popped out to right, but consecutive doubles from Park Jun-soon and Kang Seung-ho produced a run apiece, quickly stretching the lead to 6-0.
KT struggled to solve Kwak. In the bottom of the first, leadoff hitter Choi Won-jun singled but the rally stalled; the team was retired in order in the second.
In the third, after one out Lee Kang-min singled to left, but Choi Won-jun and Kim Hyun-soo struck out consecutively and KT left runners stranded. In the fifth, aside from Jang Sung-woo’s hit, KT batters mostly struck out.
Doosan pulled further away in the fifth. An Jae-seok’s double put a man on second with one out, and Yang Seok-hwan followed with an RBI single. Park Ji-hoon drew a walk to keep the inning alive.
After Jo Soo-haeng also walked to load the bases, Doosan erupted: Lee Yoo-chan cleared the bases with a double, Park Jun-soon added an RBI single, and Kang Seung-ho followed with an RBI double to push the advantage to 12-0.
KT finally answered. In the bottom of the fifth, with one out and a runner on first, Lee Kang-min singled to left and Oh Yun-seok followed with an RBI single for a run back.
In the sixth, after two outs, consecutive hits by Ryu Hyun-in and Kwon Dong-jin and a single to right by Yoo Jun-kyu produced another run for KT.
In the eighth, with two outs and runners on first and second after Ryu Hyun-in and Yoo Jun-kyu reached, Lee Kang-min delivered an RBI single to center, showing KT kept fighting until the end.
In the ninth, KT staged a late rally: with the bases loaded and no outs, Ryu Hyun-in drew a bases-loaded walk, Yoo Jun-kyu hit a two-run double, and pinch-hitter Kim Min-seok produced an RBI groundout to third, cutting the deficit to 12-7. The comeback fell short, and Doosan held on for the win.
