High School vs University All-Star Showdown: How Hanwha Eagles and KBSA Are Revolutionizing Amateur Baseball in Korea

The Hanwha Eagles and the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) have joined forces to boost amateur baseball through the regular hosting of the High School vs. College All-Star Game.
On February 10, Hanwha inked a deal with the KBSA at Daejeon’s Hanwha Life Eagles Park, cementing plans to make the High School vs. College All-Star Game a permanent fixture after three successful years.
Hanwha CEO Park Jong-tae and KBSA President Yang Hae-young were present at the signing ceremony.
This partnership aims to solidify the collaboration on the All-Star Game and ramp up efforts to advance amateur baseball.
With the introduction of the full draft system, support for amateur baseball has waned. Hanwha, looking beyond its home turf, partnered with the KBSA to launch the All-Star Game, which has been a hit for three straight years.
Living up to its “Game of the Dream” slogan, the event has earned praise for fostering amateur baseball growth and player exchanges, offering a platform of hope for aspiring athletes.
The game’s impact is clear: 80% of participants (107 out of 133) over the past three years have gone pro. It’s also shining a spotlight on college talent, with more players landing developmental contracts with pro teams.
KBSA President Yang expressed his gratitude: “We’re thankful for Hanwha’s genuine support of amateur baseball. We hope this partnership motivates young players and strengthens the grassroots of Korean baseball. The KBSA is committed to making this tournament a lasting tradition.”
Hanwha CEO Park added, “We’re grateful to the KBSA for helping us host this significant event. Hanwha remains dedicated to nurturing amateur baseball as the foundation of the pro league.”
