Gangwon FC Set to Launch New Season with Asian Home Fixture
Gangwon FC is gearing up for their first match of the season, a crucial home game in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE). The team will face Shanghai Port on February 11 at 7 PM at Chuncheon Songam Sports Town Stadium. Currently sitting in 9th place with a 2-1-3 record (7 points), this match could be pivotal for Gangwon FC’s chances of securing a spot in the ACLE Round of 16, which is open to the top 8 teams in the group stage.
The club has been proactive during the winter transfer window, addressing key positions with the signings of Ko Young-jun, Abdallah, and Kim Jeong-hoon. These new additions will join the core group of players who led Gangwon FC to consecutive Final A appearances last season. With their roster now complete, the team is focused on continuing their push for ACLE Round of 16 qualification.
Their opponents, Shanghai Port, are a formidable force in Chinese soccer. Since clinching their first Chinese Super League title in 2018, they’ve maintained their dominance with three straight championships. This consistent domestic success has translated into a strong presence on the Asian stage, backed by a robust squad.
For fans attending the match, Gangwon FC has arranged a diverse array of food options. Seven food trucks will be on site, offering everything from Korean favorites like dakgangjeong (sweet crispy chicken) and tteokbokki to international fare such as pizza and coffee. To minimize wait times, fans can place orders via QR codes or kiosks at the venue.
The club’s merchandise store and jersey marking booth will be open from 5 PM to 9:30 PM on matchday. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the new 2026 ACLE uniforms, with the first 100 merchandise buyers receiving a special ACLE commemorative ticket.
New merchandise will also be unveiled, including an anorak fleece featuring the club’s circular emblem, available in black and ivory. Fans can also look forward to three new knit scarf designs and the 2026 season pennant.
Adding to the excitement, Gangwon FC will run a score prediction contest during the match. Three lucky fans who correctly guess the final score will win autographed balls from the team.
Tickets for this ACLE group stage clash against Shanghai Port are available through NOL Ticket.
