Eric Peddie, the 2023 KBO League MVP, is set to make a return to the Chicago White Sox, one of his former teams.
MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, reported on January 10th that the White Sox have inked a one-year deal with the right-handed pitcher.
In 2023, Peddie made waves in the KBO League with the NC Dinos. He posted an impressive 20-6 record, a 2.00 ERA, and 209 strikeouts, clinching both the regular season MVP and the Golden Glove award for pitchers.
Following his stellar KBO performance, Peddie set his sights on MLB once again in 2024. He signed a two-year, 15 million USD (approximately 21.9 billion KRW) contract with the White Sox.
In his comeback season, Peddie showed promise. He made 31 appearances, notching a respectable 9-9 record with a 3.30 ERA, marking him as a successful KBO-to-MLB transition story.
However, Peddie’s performance took a nosedive starting in the 2025 season. Across stints with the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and Milwaukee Brewers, he struggled to a 4-12 record with a bloated 5.76 ERA over 32 games.
Midseason, Peddie faced the indignity of being released by Atlanta, sparking rumors of a potential return to the KBO.
Despite these setbacks, Peddie showed signs of resurgence after transitioning to a bullpen role in Milwaukee. He posted a 3.38 ERA over 7 appearances. Now, as he prepares for the 2026 season with his former team, the White Sox, Peddie is eyeing a complete comeback.
MLB.com highlighted that Peddie’s sweeper and changeup remain potent weapons. His sweeper, in particular, held batters to a mere .191 average.
