The Suwon City Sports Council has finalized its 2026 budget at 330.9136 billion KRW (approximately 248.18 million USD). The decision was made during the regular board meeting, which was attended by Chairman Park Kwang-guk and 44 board members.
During the session, the board passed several key measures, including amendments to the secretariat regulations and presidential election management rules, as well as the establishment of fair hiring operational guidelines. These actions are aimed at enhancing organizational transparency and creating a more efficient administrative framework.
The council also expanded its membership base. The Suwon City Haedong Kumdo Association, previously a provisional member, has been elevated to full member status. The association, which joined in 2002, currently boasts 812 members across 16 clubs. Additionally, the Suwon City Chess Federation, which applied for membership in November last year, has been officially recognized and now includes 347 members from eight clubs.
With these additions, the total number of sports organizations affiliated with the city sports council has grown to 61, comprising 51 full members (including 2 management organizations), 6 provisional members, and 4 recognized organizations.
Chairman Park Kwang-guk emphasized the council’s achievements in promoting public health and enhancing sports welfare. He stressed the importance of balanced development between grassroots and elite sports. Park also outlined plans to continually expand sports infrastructure to meet evolving community needs and create an inclusive environment where all residents can enjoy athletic activities.
