[Herald Economy=Reporter Choi Won-hyuk] Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. secretary of Health and Human Services who has drawn criticism for a series of wildlife-related stunts, posted a video showing him grabbing two snakes with his bare hands.
On the 26th (local time), The Hill reported that Kennedy had uploaded the footage to his X account.
The video shows Kennedy picking up two snakes that were mating in a corner of a terrace with his bare hands.
His wife, Cheryl Hines, can be heard shouting, “What are you doing?” but Kennedy appeared unfazed and held the snakes up toward the camera.
During the encounter, one of the snakes bit his finger, yet he refused to let go and smiled broadly at the camera.
Watching the scene, Hines said, “You’re out of your mind.”
The 72-year-old Kennedy is no stranger to unusual behavior.
In 2014, he admitted to moving a dead bear cub he found on the road into New York’s Central Park and abandoning it there.
His daughter has also claimed in a past interview that, decades earlier, he used a chainsaw to decapitate the carcass of a whale that washed ashore on the Massachusetts coast, a claim that sparked controversy. In connection with that episode, Kennedy was investigated last year by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration after a civic group’s complaint.
Earlier this month, he again drew criticism after posting a photo of himself holding live wild birds in his hands.
