On the 21st (local time), IT outlet 9to5Mac reported that Apple announced on its developer blog it will revise the App Store age-rating systems in Australia and Vietnam to comply with local regulations beginning June 18, 2026.
Apple has asked developers to review their age-rating questionnaire responses in App Store Connect to ensure those answers accurately reflect each app’s content.
The move comes as governments worldwide step up online safety rules for minors. In recent months, several countries and some U.S. states have expanded limits on online services for teenagers, citing concerns about social media, mental health, and harmful elements in games.
Apple has been updating the App Store’s age-rating framework in response. Last year, the company introduced a more granular rating structure and added an age-verification tool in certain regions that blocks downloads of 18+ apps unless users complete adult verification.
Under this revision, Apple will adjust how age ratings are displayed in the Australia and Vietnam App Stores to align with local rules. The company said the updated ratings will appear on each app’s product page.
