[Herald Economy (Ulsan) = Park Dong-sun] The city of Ulsan will issue a second round of relief payments for high fuel prices from the 18th through July 3 to ease the financial burden on residents.
In this second phase, the city will provide 150,000 KRW (approximately $112.50) per person to roughly 650,000 residents whose incomes fall in the bottom 70 percent as measured by National Health Insurance premiums. Those who missed the first application period—including recipients of basic livelihood support, near-poverty households, and single-parent families who were previously eligible—may still apply.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on the 18th, residents can check eligibility through card issuers, the local gift-certificate app (Ulsan Pay), and the National Health Insurance Service website and mobile app.
Applicants may choose one of three payment methods: credit/debit card, Ulsan Pay local gift certificates, or a prepaid card. Apply for credit/debit cards via the card issuer’s website, mobile app, or bank branches; apply for Ulsan Pay through its app; and apply for prepaid cards at local eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers.
The funds must be spent at small businesses in Ulsan by Aug. 31. Ulsan Pay is accepted at participating local merchants, while credit/debit and prepaid cards can be used at restaurants, supermarkets, hair salons, traditional markets, and gas stations.
To minimize inconvenience, Ulsan City will handle inquiries through district offices and the Haeul Call Center (120), and it will publish separate guidance on eligibility and the application process on the city’s official website.
