[iNews24 reporter Lim Jeong-gyu] Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province said on the 7th that it will recruit participants for its public work and local community job programs for the second half of 2026.
The program is designed to stabilize employment among vulnerable residents and to stimulate the local economy.
The city plans to fill 113 positions in total: 100 in the public work program and 13 in the local community jobs program.
Participants in the public work program will assist at free senior meal centers, take part in environmental cleanup, and provide basic administrative support.
The local community jobs program is divided into five areas: the Sonkkeut Sarang initiative, a job discovery team, developing Seongho Lake in Seolseong-myeon as a tourist attraction, creating a flower-lined walking path along Jukdangcheon in Bubal-eup, and establishing and maintaining flower paths in Yul-myeon.
Eligible applicants are Icheon residents aged 18 or older whose household income is at or below 70% of the median income and whose combined household assets total less than 400 million KRW (approximately $300,000).
Residents who wish to apply should bring ID and visit their local administrative welfare center to submit an application between the 11th and the 22nd.
Selected applicants will be assigned to work sites and will work for four months, from July through October.
A city official said the program will do more than provide jobs: it will help stabilize the lives of residents who face employment barriers and inject vitality into the local community. The official added that the city will continue expanding support for residents with employment difficulties.
