[iNews24 reporter Kim Sang-jin] Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 6th that it had held a regular meeting of its item-specific livestock councils on the 30th. Officials reviewed how livestock products were handled at the 2026 Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival and discussed measures to strengthen the local livestock industry.
Participants said the festival’s discounted Hanwoo (Korean beef) sales and tasting events helped promote local products and build consumer trust. They identified areas for improvement, including the proper use of sanitary attire, clearer management of grilling zones, and expanded hands-on programming.

The group also agreed to pilot seven sector-specific group chat rooms for livestock farmers to share key information more quickly on issues such as animal diseases, vaccine supply, and training schedules.
They pledged to strengthen the item-specific councils and maintain on-the-ground communication to respond to the changing livestock landscape.
Choi Hyun-ui, head of the county’s livestock division, said, “We will do our best to ensure the item-specific livestock councils implement practical, field-focused policies.”
