The Daegu chapter of the Korean Freedom Federation announced it will simultaneously host the \”Children’s Puzzle Workshop with Mom and Dad\” and a special exhibition honoring Latvian veterans at the Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall during Family Month in May.
Organizers said the event is intended to offer families an enjoyable experience while strengthening a sense of security and fostering a patriotic commitment to national defense among the next generation.
Now in its third year, the Children’s Puzzle Workshop runs throughout May and is open to family visitors with children.
In the activity zone, families can take part in puzzles themed on national pride, including Dokdo, the mugunghwa (hibiscus), and the turtle ship. Visitors will also receive one commemorative gift—either a turtle ship assembly puzzle or a Dokdo keyring kit—while supplies last.
The memorial’s photo zone greets families with character sculptures of the army mascot \”Hoguk-i,\” the navy’s \”Inabi,\” and a newly created marine mascot, \”Haebyeong-i.\”
The accompanying special exhibition honors 17 Latvians who fought under U.S. command during the Korean War, although Latvia was not an official participating nation.
Sponsored by the Embassy of Latvia in Korea (Ambassador Yanis Berzinsh), the exhibition commemorates four fallen veterans and reexamines the records of these often-forgotten heroes.
An official from the Daegu chapter said, \”Amid shifting international tensions—from the Russia-Ukraine war to clashes in the Middle East—security education matters more than ever. We hope this event allows children to make happy memories with their parents and, in the process, learn to love their country.\”
The exhibition runs through May 31 at the Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall and is free and open to the public.
