[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Actor Kwon Oh-joong revealed that his son, who suffers from a rare disease, was the victim of school bullying and expressed frustration over how the perpetrators were handled.
On the 29th, Kwon appeared on KBS1’s Hwang Shin-hye: Let’s Live Together and updated viewers on his son’s condition and overall health.
The boy, who has a rare condition, had been isolated most of the time. The issue emerged in middle school. One day he suddenly refused to go to school, saying someone had punched him in the stomach. When Kwon confronted the alleged attacker after his son again refused to attend school, the accused student instead protested, \”I spend a lot of time with him,\” insisting he had been wrongly accused.
Back at home, a startled Kwon scolded his son. Shortly after, the school called to say the boy had a neck injury and needed emergency care. It turned out the group of attackers had pretended to be friendly while they abused his son. They even lied brazenly to Kwon. The neck injury occurred when they struck his son as he looked out a window, driving shards of glass into his neck.

A police investigation later revealed the boy had been bullied for about a year. Kwon, who had been unaware, broke down in tears and expressed deep remorse.
Kwon said the ringleader transferred to another school. \”That’s the worst part,\” he said — if the ringleader requests a transfer, the school record won’t reflect the bullying. The other four perpetrators only changed classes. Then they told others, \”Don’t sit next to him! You’ll get reported to the police.\” Even with only a class change, they continued to ostracize him, he lamented.
Fortunately, his son was able to escape the bullying after graduating from middle school. Kwon added, \”School bullying doesn’t just hurt the child — it destroys the whole family, including the parents.\”
