First application intake for vulnerable groups runs through May 8
The city will operate a ‘visiting application service’ for residents with mobility difficulties
Hwaseong Special City announced on the 24th that it will begin distributing the High Fuel Price Relief Fund on the 27th to help residents cope with rising fuel costs.
Following government guidelines, the city will prioritize payments to vulnerable groups—basic livelihood recipients, near-poverty households, and single-parent families—and will then proceed with a second round for those who missed the initial application period and for residents who meet additional eligibility criteria.
The city has established an application and intake system centered on neighborhood administrative welfare centers, secured offline payment methods, and strengthened on-site guidance so residents can apply for and receive funds without inconvenience.
To minimize coverage gaps, the city will operate a visiting application service for seniors and residents with disabilities who have mobility challenges. It will also activate anti-fraud measures to ensure the funds are used as intended.
The first round runs from the 27th through May 8 and covers basic livelihood recipients, near-poverty households, and single-parent families. The second round runs from May 18 through July 3 and will include those who did not apply during the first round as well as additional eligible residents.
In line with government guidance, payments may be made via credit or debit card, prepaid card, or the Hope Hwaseong local currency; the city will provide detailed payment instructions to each recipient.
The city will concentrate administrative resources to prevent disruptions during the application process, closely manage demand for prepaid cards and vouchers, and strengthen its customer service response. Officials will also take care to protect personal data and provide careful on-site guidance to prevent disclosure of recipients’ eligibility.
Yun Seong-jin, acting mayor of Hwaseong Special City, said, “I hope this support provides meaningful relief to residents struggling with high fuel prices. We will carefully manage the process from application to payment so that no eligible resident is left out, and we will deliver assistance quickly and with tangible impact.”
