Authorities have detained the child’s father in connection with an incident in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, in which a 3-year-old sustained a head injury and remains unconscious.
Uijeongbu District Court issued an arrest warrant today (April 12) for the father, a man in his 20s, on suspicion of child abuse, citing concerns he might flee or destroy evidence.
Prosecutors say the suspect allegedly abused his three‑year‑old son at an apartment in Okjeong‑dong, Yangju, on April 9, leaving the child in critical condition.
Responding to medical staff who suspected abuse, police took both parents into custody at the hospital emergency room for questioning.
After analyzing the father’s mobile phone and uncovering evidence suggesting abuse, investigators have broadened their probe to include other family members. The mother was released to care for the child but remains under investigation.
