Enhancing Emergency Response: How Anyan Fire Department’s Realistic Training Prepares for Disasters

Anyang Fire Department staged realistic rescue drills in vacant buildings within a redevelopment zone to strengthen on-scene response capabilities.
 
According to the department on the 10th, practical exercises for rescue and firefighting crews were conducted in the Bisan-dong redevelopment area of Dongan District from the 8th through the 10th.
 
The drills concentrated on securing the golden time for lifesaving and on improving rescuers’ individual skills.

To avoid safety risks and minimize inconvenience to residents, drills were held in vacant buildings and run repeatedly to reflect a variety of floor configurations.
 
Training focused on realistic scenarios, including opening fire and interior doors, conducting elevator rescues, and extricating trapped residents.
 
The department also ran tree-cutting drills to prepare for natural disasters such as summer typhoons and heavy rains, further bolstering disaster response capabilities.

Meanwhile, Kim Ji-han, the fire chief, said, “Repeated drills that closely mirror real situations are the key to swift, effective responses. We will continue to carry out practical training that reflects a wide range of disaster types.”
