A teenager who was caught stealing at a shopping center in Cheonan, South Chungcheong, fell from a building while attempting to flee.
The Cheonan Seobuk Police Station said that at about 5:13 p.m. on the 10th, a high school student identified by the initial A stole a cellphone from a used-phone shop inside a shopping complex in Dujeong-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. The student then ran from the scene.
The shop owner, a man in his 40s, pursued the teenager. During the chase, the teenager fell from the building’s fifth floor.
The teenager sustained severe head injuries and additional trauma. He was transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting a detailed investigation before deciding whether to file charges.
