The province unveiled its \”2026 Plan to Eradicate Drunk Driving\” and will implement detailed measures to eliminate drunk-driving misconduct among staff.
Employees disciplined for drunk driving will face personnel consequences — including restrictions on promotions, performance bonuses and awards — and those who encourage or assist drunk driving will be strictly punished.

At its first-quarter personnel committee meeting this year, the province also declared that drunk driving breaches a public official’s duty to maintain dignity and pledged to apply strict disciplinary standards going forward, regardless of circumstances.
Lee Hye-ran, Chungbuk’s auditor, said: \”Drunk driving not only undermines public trust in the civil service, it also poses a serious threat to other people’s lives. We will restore public-service discipline through decisive action.\”
