On March 28, multiple fires of varying sizes broke out across Gangwon Province, causing damage to buildings and property.
According to fire authorities, at about 1:26 p.m. a blaze ignited in a warehouse near a deodeok farm in Hoengseong-eup, Hoengseong County. Fire crews extinguished the fire after roughly three hours. The blaze completely destroyed one warehouse and partially damaged the management building, producing an estimated 55,000,000 KRW (approximately $41,250) in property damage.

Earlier that morning, at about 8:12 a.m., a fire broke out in a container in Buksan-myeon, Chuncheon. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 50 minutes. The fire destroyed a 30㎡ (about 323 sq ft) container and damaged part of a nearby house; the fire department estimates property losses at roughly 3,150,000 KRW (about $2,363). Authorities suspect mechanical overheating as the cause.
At about 2:55 p.m., a fire also erupted in a residential storage shed in Yongsan-ri, Imgye-myeon, Jeongseon County. Crews extinguished that fire within about 20 minutes. The blaze damaged an electrical distribution panel and destroyed some storage equipment. Police and fire officials are investigating the exact cause.
