[Herald Economy (Changwon) = Reporter Hwang Sang-wook] BNK Gyeongnam Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency and the Gyeongnam branch of the Financial Supervisory Service to prevent voice-phishing crimes.
On the 20th, BNK Gyeongnam Bank and the two agencies formalized the \”Agreement on Prevention of Phishing Crimes and Cooperation\” in the main conference hall of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency. Attending were BNK Gyeongnam Bank President Kim Tae-han, Gyeongnam Police Commissioner Kim Jong-chul, and Heo Seung-hwan, head of the FSS Gyeongnam branch.
Under the agreement, the three institutions will establish dedicated consultation desks for potential phishing victims and set up a hotline for real-time response. They will routinely share the latest case examples and prevention guidance, and strengthen on-site coordination with local police stations and precincts.
They will also produce anti-phishing materials and run joint public-awareness campaigns. On the 29th, at the 33rd 3·15 Marathon held at Changwon’s 3·15 Haeyangnuri Park, the partners will operate a booth to educate residents about common phishing tactics and appropriate countermeasures.
\”Voice phishing is a serious crime that disrupts family life beyond individual financial losses,\” said Kim Tae-han, president of BNK Gyeongnam Bank. \”By combining proactive measures from financial institutions, the investigative capabilities of the police, and institutional support from the FSS, we will protect local residents’ assets.\”
Meanwhile, BNK Gyeongnam Bank is enhancing its Fraud Detection System (FDS) and streamlining processes to freeze accounts immediately upon receiving fraud reports, as part of its broader effort to prevent financial scams.
