Kim Jung-gyeom has been selected as the 11th Chairman of the Daecheong Lake Conservation Movement Headquarters.
Kim assumed office as Chairman during the organization’s regular general meeting on the 10th, held at the Okcheon Multipurpose Hall in Okcheon County, North Chungcheong Province. His term will last for two years.
The Daecheong Lake Conservation Movement Headquarters is a nationwide organization comprising local residents from the Daecheong Lake area, civic groups, local governments, and relevant federal agencies. Since its establishment in 2002, it has spearheaded various initiatives aimed at improving water quality in Daecheong Lake. These efforts include water conservation campaigns, watershed and underwater purification activities, community living initiatives such as rural experience programs and direct urban-rural trade, citizen-led river monitoring and research, and the development and implementation of public-private partnership governance models.
Kim emphasized, “The work of the Daecheong Lake Conservation Movement Headquarters, a national organization dedicated to the purification and preservation of Daecheong Lake – a vital water source for the Chungcheong region – extends beyond the lake itself to benefit the entire nation and future generations.” He further pledged, “We will develop diverse policies to transform Daecheong Lake into a cherished space for all, transcending its functional role as a water source for the Chungcheong region.”
