[Herald Economy (Daegu)=Reporter Kim Byung-jin] Kim Jin-yeol, the People Power Party candidate for mayor of Gunwi County, opened his campaign office on the 12th in Gunwi-eup and officially kicked off a full-scale campaign to win the June 3 local elections.
The opening was attended by Choo Kyung-ho, the People Power Party’s candidate for Daegu mayor; Lee In-seon, chair of the party’s Daegu chapter; Rep. Kang Dae-sik; former Gunwi County head Jang Wook; officials from the Korea Senior Citizens Association; local elders; the party’s city and county council nominees; campaign committee members; and numerous supporters.
In his remarks, Kim pledged to steady the historic transition since Gunwi became part of Daegu and to pursue without hesitation the major projects that will shape Gunwi’s next 100 years — including the integrated new airport project, relocation of military units, and expansion of the regional transportation network.
Kim told attendees, “Today is not simply the opening of a campaign office; it is a moment to prepare for a fresh start toward Gunwi’s next 100 years,” calling the event “an opportunity to unite residents’ will and determination to keep Gunwi’s development moving.”
He added, “I will not let Gunwi’s future stall, and I will protect the pride of our residents,” urging people to “join me once more to propel Gunwi toward a greater leap forward.”
