Choo Mi-ae was confirmed as the Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Gyeonggi Province in the June 3 local elections.
So Byung-hoon, chair of the party’s central election committee, announced the results of the Gyeonggi governor primary at the party headquarters in Yeouido on the 7th.
The Democratic primary for governor of Gyeonggi Province was a three-way contest between Choo, incumbent Governor Kim Dong-yeon, and Democratic lawmaker Han Jun-ho.
The party did not disclose the candidates’ rankings or vote shares.
On Facebook, Choo pledged, “I will repay you with an overwhelming victory on June 3.”
Meanwhile, the rival People Power Party has not yet finalized its candidate to face Choo. Yang Hyang-ja and former lawmaker Ham Jin-gyu applied for the nomination, but party officials said concerns about their competitiveness in the general election led the party to reopen nominations for the Gyeonggi governor race.
