[iNews24 reporter Lee Jin-woo] Young leaders poised to shape Gyeongju’s future publicly endorsed Gyeongju mayoral hopeful Ju Nak-young’s bid for a third term.
On the 2nd, Ha Jong-tae, president of the Gyeongju Youth Association, and members of the group “Gyeongju Youth Hope 150” visited Ju’s campaign office to hold a declaration of support and formally begin rallying backing.

In a statement, they commended Ju’s hands-on approach to governance and highlighted his achievements in youth policy, clarifying the reasons for their endorsement.
Ha said, “Large projects, such as attracting an SMR national industrial complex, have created a foundation that allows young people to remain and settle in the region.” He added, “I trust Ju’s youth-friendly leadership in pursuing practical policies, including startup support and housing measures.”
He also noted that successfully securing and preparing to host the 2025 APEC summit has elevated Gyeongju’s international profile and serves as evidence of proven administrative capability.
The young supporters emphasized the need for policy continuity.
They argued that Gyeongju now requires a phase of delivering concrete results rather than uncertain experiments, and that citizens will only feel the benefits of large national projects if leadership brings both experience and the drive to execute them.
They maintained that Ju Nak-young is the right person to guide the city steadily through this critical period.
At the event, chants of “We need Ju Nak-young who gets things done,” “The youth’s future is with Ju Nak-young,” and “Support Gyeongju’s first three-term mayor” raised the energy among attendees.
Ju responded, “I feel a heavy sense of responsibility for the youth’s support,” and vowed, “I will make Gyeongju a city of hope for young people where they can stay and take on challenges.”
Observers expect this youth endorsement to help broaden Ju’s support base and consolidate youth votes during the campaign.
