Actor Lee Won-jong will serve as chair of the campaign support committee for Park Seong-hyun, the Democratic Party’s preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangyang in South Jeolla Province.
On the 27th, Park’s campaign said Lee—who publicly backed Lee Jae-myung in the last presidential election—has agreed to take the position.
Lee, the incoming committee chair, said he strongly supports Park Seong-hyun’s vision and development policies for Gwangyang and accepted the role because he believes Park has the decisiveness, communication skills, and drive to see them through.
Park said, “I am deeply grateful that actor Lee Won-jong, who has long been beloved by the public, agreed to chair the support committee. I will communicate more closely with Gwangyang citizens and work to deliver trustworthy governance.”
The committee chair plans to visit the campaign office at the container-pier intersection in Jungma-dong on April 1 to show his support.
