Gwangju City Council and the Jeonnam Provincial Council said on the 19th that they held a working meeting to establish an integrated council ahead of the launch of the Jeonnam–Gwangju Special City.
Officials, including clerks from both councils, attended the meeting. They convened to discuss forming a consultative body and defining its role to ensure the new special city’s council launches and operates effectively.
At the meeting, both councils agreed to form the consultative body and to systematically manage the identification, negotiation, coordination, and implementation of key tasks through to the council’s launch.
They also agreed to share materials to support councilors’ decision-making and to put in place a joint review process.
Wi Gwang-hwan, Secretary-General of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, said, “We will complete the necessary practical reviews and consultations, have the consultative body set the implementation policy, and take every measure to ensure the integrated council launches smoothly on July 1.”
