Former Acting Mayor of Changwon, Kim Seok-ki (60), announced on June 10th that he will run as the People Power Party candidate in the upcoming local elections on June 3rd.
During a press conference at Changwon City Hall, Kim stated, “Drawing on my 31 years of experience in public service, I will take full responsibility for Changwon’s administration. I am committed to demonstrating Changwon’s transformation through tangible results, not just empty promises.”
He emphasized, “I will personally visit citizens wherever they are to listen to their concerns directly. My goal is to be a mayor judged solely on achievements, not rhetoric. I am determined to elevate our city to a status where every resident feels a sense of pride.”
Kim’s campaign platform includes several key initiatives: spearheading an AI-driven manufacturing revolution in the Changwon National Industrial Complex, developing smart living zones that reduce commute times, transforming Changwon into a destination for extended-stay tourism, implementing a comprehensive senior care system, and securing special city status for Changwon as it approaches a population of one million.
Kim’s extensive career in public service began after passing the 36th Administrative Examination. His notable positions include Secretary General of the Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly, Head of the Gyeongnam Economic and Trade Bureau, Deputy Mayor of Geoje City, Deputy Mayor of Gimhae City, First Deputy Mayor of Changwon, and most recently, Acting Mayor of Changwon.
