Their new single, “Like the First Day,” due April 27, is an emotionally rich ballad duet. Jae Sera’s powerful yet nuanced voice blends with Irun’s contemporary, alluring tone to create a finely balanced harmony.
The chorus — “I’ll look at you like the first day… I’ll hold you / I’ll erase all wounds and regrets / The one and only love was you” — expresses the depth of enduring love. Jae Sera’s emotive delivery, in particular, elevates the song’s poignant mood.
Irun revisits memories of love with the lines “I lost you in familiarity / Why didn’t I know then how precious you were,” demonstrating seamless chemistry with his partner.
The pairing draws attention: Jae Sera, who debuted in 2010 with the single “Lonely Night,” has steadily earned acclaim, while Irun made his mark last May with “Trauma,” the ending theme for KBS2’s daily drama “The Queen’s House.”
The track was produced by Urbane Music, the team behind songs for So Hyang, Kim Na-young, Lee Woo and Song Ha-ye, as well as OSTs for the KakaoPage series “The Admiral’s Monster Wife” and the Naver Webtoon “Weak Hero.”
Yogurt Studio, which produced the recording, described the song as a love ballad that merges Jae Sera’s signature emotional intensity—she is often called the “Queen of Emotion”—with Irun’s contemporary sensibility. The studio added that the track reveals greater musical depth with each listen and encouraged fans to look forward to the release.
