Reflects health and routine; supports music BPM and a running metronome
KT Genie Music has rolled out a functional running-music service aimed at improving workout effectiveness as running gains popularity.
On April 12, KT Genie Music said it launched a new feature that brings running culture into its music platform.
The service adapts to runners’ habits and current condition. Users can set workout durations to match their routines and physical state, and a music BPM (beats per minute) function lets them sync their pace to the soundtrack. A running metronome is also included to help maintain a steady cadence.
The BPM feature spans five levels between 140 and 180, delivering playlists tailored to different training intensities.
The service is available from the Running tab at the top of the Genie app’s main screen; KT simplified the user interface for faster access and easier use. The company also produced and released proprietary tracks optimized for high BPM to differentiate the offering.
To mark the launch, KT Genie Music is running several promotions. Through April 15, users of the running playlists can enter a lottery for tickets (two per winner) to Pokemon Run 2026 in Seoul. Through April 22, the company will also give away items including smartwatches, Naver Pay credits, and Starbucks coupons.
Kim Jeong-wook, head of service planning at KT Genie Music, said, “With running now a mass pastime, we launched a functional running-music service that’s convenient to use anywhere. We will continue refining the service to reflect runners’ usage patterns and diverse needs, and increase its usefulness through integration with wearable devices.”
