[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Woobin of K-pop group CRAVITY is set to make his musical debut.
Woobin will appear in Romeo and Juliet today (the 26th) at the KEPCO Art Center.
Through his agency Starship Entertainment, Woobin said, \”Since this is my first musical, I’ve been preparing with a mix of excitement and nerves and working hard. Now that the stage is in sight, I feel an even stronger desire to do my best.\” He added, \”I’m happy to show LUVITY (our official fan club) a new side of me, and I’ll put my whole heart into every performance so that everyone who comes to see Romeo and Juliet leaves with great memories. Please send lots of support and anticipation.\”
Romeo and Juliet, adapted from Shakespeare’s play, is considered one of the three major French musicals. Since its Paris premiere in 2001, it has enjoyed international acclaim. In South Korea, the 2007 production drew roughly 100,000 attendees, and its revival after about 19 years has generated renewed interest.
In this staging, Woobin takes on the lead role of Romeo. He portrays a young man who falls for Juliet, the daughter of a rival family, navigating subtle emotional shifts while elevating the production with his powerful, resonant vocal tone. With the ensemble contributing the lavishness and grandeur typical of French musicals, audiences will be watching to see how Woobin anchors the show.
Since debuting with CRAVITY in 2020, Woobin has served as the group’s main vocalist, boosting the band’s musical polish with strong technique and a warm timbre. He has also demonstrated versatility through songwriting, composing and producing credits, as well as a wide musical range showcased in cover performances and broadcast appearances.
His varied TV turns — including MBC’s King of Mask Singer, JTBC’s Begin Again and MBC M’s Picnic Live SoPung — have highlighted multiple facets of his appeal, and fans are eager to see how he expands his career with this move into musical theatre.
Meanwhile, Romeo and Juliet, featuring Woobin, runs at the KEPCO Art Center through May 31, 2026.
