Variety – Lim Chang-jung, the ‘Original All-Rounder,’ captivated radio audiences with his seasoned wit and live performance prowess.
On February 10, Lim made an appearance on MBC FM4U’s “Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope.” The veteran artist, with a 30-year career spanning music, stage, and acting, offered candid insights and engaged in meaningful dialogue with listeners.
Expressing his excitement about returning to the show after a four-year hiatus, Lim shared updates on his recent U.S. and Australian tours. Recalling his Sydney Opera House performance, he marveled, “I’ve always just taken photos outside, but performing there was surreal. Standing on that iconic stage, where only the most renowned artists perform, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I’ll never forget.”
Lim also dished on his recent return to music shows after nearly three years. With his trademark humor, he quipped, “I was so rusty, hitting those high notes early in the morning was a struggle!” However, his impromptu a cappella performance proved otherwise, showcasing his still-powerful vocals. DJ Kim Shin-young, impressed, remarked, “It might be tough for you, but it sounds effortless to us!”
The singer joked about his reputation for self-deprecating ballads, saying, “People call songs like ‘A Fool,’ ‘An Idiot,’ and ‘A Crazy Guy’ my self-loathing series.” He even considered combining them into one epic title: “A Foolish Crazy Guy.” Lim added, “I toyed with calling it ‘Guy Guy Guy,’ but after singing it, ‘Crazy Guy’ just felt right. Surprisingly, I only needed two takes to record it.”
When asked about his current passions, Lim revealed, “I’m not fixated on just one thing. I’m curious about everything and love trying new experiences.” Looking ahead, he shared his ambitions: “I’ve got a lot on my wishlist. This year and next, I want to produce a film and star in an MBC drama.” His diverse goals truly reflect his ‘all-rounder’ reputation.
