BTS’s ‘Arirang’ Comeback Live: What to Expect from the Free Concert at Gwanghwamun Plaza?

BTS’s comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square is set to welcome over 15,000 fans. While this figure represents the seating capacity, the actual crowd on the day of the event is expected to swell to a staggering 260,000.
Industry insiders and Seoul city officials revealed on the 10th that the group’s agency is in talks with the city to accommodate more than 15,000 attendees, including standing areas and designated seating, for the ‘BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG’ event scheduled for March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square.
Big Hit Music released a seating chart on Weverse, showcasing a T-shaped stage at Gwanghwamun Square. The standing area, which wraps around three sides of a protruding stage, will hold 2,000 fans. From today until the 13th, Big Hit Music is running a participation event for those who pre-order the group’s fifth studio album ‘Arirang’. A whopping 2,000 lucky winners will score spots in the coveted standing area.
Designated seating will be arranged behind the standing area, tailored to fit the elongated shape of Gwanghwamun Square. There’s a strong possibility that additional seating may be added to accommodate more fans.
‘BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG’ is a free concert scheduled for the day after the release of BTS’s fifth studio album ‘Arirang’. The septet plans to kick off their performance inside Gyeongbokgung Palace, making their way through Gwanghwamun and the Woldae, before taking the stage at the northern end of Gwanghwamun Square. Fans can snag tickets for designated seating starting on the 23rd through NOL Ticket.
The event organizers are exploring the possibility of setting up a massive screen near Seoul Plaza, allowing even more fans to experience the concert. Meanwhile, hotels with views of the Gwanghwamun performance are already fully booked.
Law enforcement anticipates crowds of 230,000 near the concert stage, potentially swelling to 260,000 by Sungnyemun Gate.
In a groundbreaking move, BTS’s concert will be live-streamed on Netflix to over 190 countries worldwide. This marks the first time a major Korean event will be broadcast live globally through the streaming giant.
