(The CEN News / Reporter Kwon Jin-ah) In ‘Current King of Singers 3,’ Gu Soo-kyung and Hong Ji-yoon face off in a high-stakes battle to defend the throne and climb from the bottom ranks.
The eighth episode of MBN’s ‘Current King of Singers 3,’ airing on the 10th, will showcase the climactic ‘Fate War’ stage – the final gateway to securing a direct ticket to the semi-finals.
The episode promises a legendary performance that evokes comparisons to the iconic Na Hoon-a. Host Shin Dong-yeop raves about one contestant’s rendition of ‘Tes-hyung!’, lamenting that the electrifying energy of the live performance couldn’t be fully captured for the home audience. The judges, equally impressed, playfully extend an open invitation to Na Hoon-a himself, testament to the stage’s overwhelming quality.

Gu Soo-kyung, who stunned everyone by clinching the top spot with a commanding lead in the first round, now seeks to cement her position. “Leading the pack comes with immense pressure, but as the competition progresses, my ambition grows,” Gu reveals, determined to prove her dark horse status with a knockout performance.
Hong Ji-yoon, once a frontrunner, now faces elimination after plummeting to ninth place. In a bid to reverse her fortunes, she dons a self-designed retro outfit for a spirited performance. The judges praise her dramatic transformation, noting her dedication “even to the point of maxing out her credit cards.”

The redemption arcs of Hong Ja and Kang Hye-yeon, both struggling in the lower ranks, add another layer of intrigue. Hong Ja takes the stage with fierce determination, aiming to deliver a performance that only she can. Kang Hye-yeon, having slipped to 13th place, reflects on her past complacency and steels herself for a do-or-die performance.
The show also breaks new ground with its first-ever hip-hop and rap stages, as well as traditional folk performances, pushing genre boundaries and electrifying the atmosphere. The competition’s intensity even led to a contestant suffering a nosebleed backstage. Viewers are on the edge of their seats, eager to see who will clinch the remaining semi-final spots and be crowned MVP of the third round.
Tune in to ‘Current King of Singers 3’ on the 10th at 9:50 PM.
