Wuling, known for its ultra-low-cost EVs, has unveiled a model that takes the brand in a different direction.
The newly revealed Xingguang L (Starlight L) moves past Wuling’s image as a maker of $6,000 micro-EVs and is positioned as alarge family SUV.
Its exterior projects a near–full-size presence,
with styling aimed at evoking premium brands.

This is a three-row, six-seat SUV.
Notable features in the second row include
▲ a tray table
▲ an extendable legroom function
—all aimed at maximizing family functionality.
The vehicle’s dimensions are substantial.
-
Overall length: 4,980 mm (196.1 in)
-
Wheelbase: 2,950 mm (116.1 in)
Those dimensions put it in roughly the same class as the Hyundai Palisade, in the family-sized large SUV category.

The Starlight L is offered as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
It delivers a pure-electric range of
260 km (CLTC)
That figure is among the best in its segment, allowing owners to use the SUV like an electric vehicle for most daily driving.
Doubling down on a value-premium strategy

Wuling also upgraded the cabin to feel more premium.
-
15.6-inch central display
-
256-color ambient lighting
-
Wood trim and metal speaker elements
These details are intended to deliver a premium ambience.
Combined with Wuling’s trademark price competitiveness,
the Starlight L could create a new \”value-premium SUV\” segment.
Industry observers say the model signals Wuling’s intent to move beyond ultra-low-cost city EVs into the large-SUV market,
and they believe Wuling’s price advantage paired with solid product attributes could be disruptive in global markets.
