[The Public=Oh Doohwan, Reporter] The Porsche Panamera 4 E-HYBErid is the kind of car that feels like it has two personalities. In downtown Seoul it is as quiet and composed as an electric car, yet a firm press of the accelerator turns it into a bona fide sports car. What impressed me was how those two modes flow together rather than clash.

I drove a Lugano Blue Panamera 4 E-HYBErid on a 2-night, 3-day test. My routes covered central Seoul — Samseong-dong, Yeoksam-dong and Yeouido — plus the daily commute between Seoul and Gimpo. Bottom line: from the moment you sit in it, this sedan is built to be enjoyed.

The first thing you notice is how quiet it is. In E mode it competes with large battery-electric vehicles; at stops and during low-speed driving the engine is virtually undetectable.

Switch to Sport Plus and the car’s character shifts dramatically. The acceleration that pins you to the seat blends the instant torque of an electric motor with the surge of a combustion engine. With the turn of a dial it moves from everyday comfort to focused performance.

Ride quality is a focal point of this model. My test car featured Porsche Active Ride, which smooths out road impacts while keeping body motions tightly controlled. Unlike typical air suspension, it actively suppresses roll and pitch.

That balance explains why the Panamera can feel like a luxury sedan and a sharp sports car at the same time.

Battery performance is noticeably improved. The new model uses a 25.9kWh battery, which extends electric range significantly. In typical city-commute conditions you can complete daily driving without the engine intervening. Use it like an EV, and let the combustion engine take over seamlessly for longer trips.

The powertrain’s transitions are impressive, too. The awkwardness often found in some hybrids is largely absent; shifts and torque handoffs are so refined you barely notice when the engine engages — a hallmark of Porsche engineering.

There are downsides. The most obvious is weight: the battery pushes curb weight well above 2 tons. In fast corners you feel the car’s inertia — its performance is excellent, but it can’t escape physics.

Brake feel isn’t flawless. The transition between regenerative and mechanical braking can produce a slightly disconnected initial bite that takes some getting used to. After a short adjustment, braking becomes consistent and predictable.

Cargo space is another shortfall. With the battery under the trunk floor, usable volume is reduced — something you’ll notice when loading golf bags or family luggage. The specifications also note certain options can further cut cargo capacity.

Still, the Panamera’s core identity is clear: it wears a family-sedan silhouette, but the moment you take the wheel its demeanor changes completely.

The Panamera 4 E-HYBErid is one of the rarer models that balances efficiency with emotion. Even as the market shifts toward electrification, it doesn’t give up the joy of driving. In the city it behaves like a quiet, civilized sedan; on the highway it reminds you it’s a Porsche. For drivers who want both, it’s one of the most pragmatic choices.
