BMW Korea led sales of electrified models among imported brands in the domestic market in the first quarter, selling a total of 2,913 electrified vehicles: 1,732 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and 1,181 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). BEV sales rose 49.7% from 1,157 units in the same quarter a year earlier.
The all-electric i5 business sedan powered the gains, accounting for nearly half of BEV deliveries with 828 units. BMW’s electrified volumes outpaced the second- and third-place imported brands by roughly 1,600 and 2,000 units, respectively.

BMW Korea is investing in both an expanded electrified lineup and broader charging infrastructure to improve the EV ownership experience. Since late 2022 the company has opened publicly accessible “BMW Charging Stations” at major hubs. Under its mid- to long-term program announced in 2023, “Charging Next,” BMW has deployed 3,030 EV chargers to date and plans to add 1,000 more this year, bringing the total to 4,000.
BMW also launched the BMW BEV Membership test-drive program, which has given 4,624 customers a hands-on experience so far.
On vehicle safety, BMW monitors battery condition through its connected-technology vehicle management service, BMW Proactive Care, to prevent overcharging and overheating. BMW is the only importer participating in a pilot that reports battery irregularities to fire authorities, helping secure faster fire-response times.
Maintenance and routine service for electrified models are available at 81 authorized service centers, while complex work such as high-voltage battery servicing and accident repairs is handled at 42 locations. BMW employs 480 EV-specialized technicians — the largest number in the industry.

BMW plans to introduce the all-new, pure-electric SAV the New iX3 in the domestic market in the third quarter. Preorders opened on the 19th of last month, and more than 2,000 reservations were submitted within three days.
