730 km range · 1,500 TOPS for autonomous driving

Volkswagen has unveiled an all‑new electric SUV.
The new ID.Unix 08 was developed using Xpeng technology.
Industry observers say the model is more than another EV launch — Volkswagen is treating it as a key play to regain traction in China’s electric‑vehicle market.

A full‑scale collaboration

The vehicle integrates Xpeng’s VLA (Vision‑Language‑Action) autonomous system and achieves roughly 1,500 TOPS of computing performance.
It deploys 11 cameras, three millimeter‑wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors to support navigation‑based autonomous driving (NOA) in both city and highway environments.
That setup reflects a distinctly Chinese technical approach, noticeably different from Volkswagen’s earlier EVs.
730 km Driving Range…
Performance tuned to Chinese expectations

The ID.Unix 08 is a large SUV measuring about 5,000 mm, giving it a roomier stance than many rivals.
Powertrain choices include a single rear‑wheel motor with 308 hp and a dual‑motor AWD system rated at 496 hp.
Battery packs from CATL use LFP chemistry (82.4 kWh and 95 kWh), and Volkswagen claims up to 730 km under the CLTC cycle.
The vehicle supports 315 kW ultra‑fast charging; Volkswagen says a five‑minute charge can add roughly 150 km of range.
Rivals: Xiaomi and ZEEKR
China’s intense market competition

The ID.Unix 08 will compete in the large electric SUV segment against models such as the Xiaomi YU7 and ZEEKR 7X.
Pre‑sale pricing starts at 239,900 CNY (approximately $34,709) (about 52,000,000 KRW (approximately $39,000)), placing the model above the ID.4 and ID.6 in Volkswagen’s lineup.
Volkswagen remains strong in the internal‑combustion market, but local Chinese brands have been outpacing it in EVs.
Ultimately, the ID.Unix 08 is being read as more than a new product — it signals deepening collaboration with local partners like Xpeng.
